Professor emeritus of the University of Berne and has been Head of the Div. of Gynaecological Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine at the University of Berne until Dec. 31th, 2008. His actual special interests are menopause, osteoporosis and hormonal contraception. In 1987, he had received the Schering Award for his research work in the field of PCOS.

He is Past President of the Ecuadorian Menopause Society, member of several international scientific society boards. He is currently Editor in Chief of Gynecological Endocrinology (official journal of ISGE) and Associate editor for Climacteric (official journal of IMS). His field of expertise is women’s health (reproductive and non-reproductive stages), with focus on preeclampsia, obesity, the metabolic syndrome, menopausal symptoms and cardiovascular risk.
